Dad's Workshop
EP. 08

Sol's workshop stood two alleys from the market. The shutter was down, and the sun emblem on the sign had faded.

"This was my playground when I was little. After they took dad I never came back."

Beside the shutter, instead of a lock, a small recess was carved. Shaped like a sun.

"The key you really don't have it?"

"I told you. Dad left me nothing"

Then Bit stared at Dot's hair.

"Noona your hair tie. You said he gave you that."

Dot's hand rose slowly to her hair tie. The thing she wore every day — worn so long she'd forgotten it was there.

She pressed the amber hair tie into the recess — click.

"I was pretty cool just now, right?"

"Yeah."

The door was opening — enough that Dot admitted it without a fight.

I was pretty cool just now.
Yeah.

The thing she always wore

"Welcome home."

Inside, time had stopped. A cold coffee cup on the workbench. Walls covered in blueprints.

And at the center of them all — Volt's schematic. A project name was written across it.

HEART — City Reignition Device.

Under the workbench, Dot found a box. A sealed metal box, with a single line on the label.

"To W — when the time comes."

HEART — City Reignition Device

A workshop where time stopped

Then, the old terminal in the corner switched itself on. A camera found Dot — and playback began.

On the screen, a man whose face was lost in the noise pulled up a chair.

"Dot. If you're watching this, it means Volt woke up — and you found him."

"I hid Volt in the garage next door because it was the closest place to you. I hoped you'd find him, someday."

"If it gets dangerous, go to Watt. And… take care of Volt. What's inside him is the last hope we built."

"I'm sorry. And — I love you."

The screen went dark. The workshop was silent, and Dot cried without a sound.

Bit said nothing, and simply stood beside her. That was enough.

I'm sorry. And I love you.

A light in the workshop

"Let's go. Now."

The two slipped out the back door, the box in their arms.

The same moment, the darkness in the tower was reading a new report.

"A light has come on in Sol's workshop"

"Sol. Now there's a name I've missed."

The Grid Lord knew her father.

A name I've missed.

A name he missed
